Boring title, I know, but it was all I could come up with in the moment. I’ve been thinking about how quickly time has been getting away from me and now, all of a sudden, here I am, here we are, halfway through the decade. Time sure is like a bus that waits for no one.
Anyway, getting into the music, I got an email last night that David Byrne of Talking Heads had added more dates to his current tour, Who Is The Sky?, which includes a stop in Kansas City. I missed out on this first leg of the tour since there were no stops anywhere near Nebraska or Omaha, and I wanted to preserve some PTO for other upcoming travel plans, mainly Cruise to the Edge 2026. Still, David Byrne doesn’t come around very much, so I decided to act and signed up last minute for early ticket access. That’s a massive perk to going to shows regularly. You get added to venue and ticket agency mailing lists so you can be among the first to know about new shows. I went for a mid-range ticket and ended up getting one with a straight-shot view of the stage, a couple of sections back. Works for me! I own the Blu Ray of David Byrne’s American Utopia, given to me a few years back for Christmas. I loved the intimacy and artistry of that performance, so I’m eager to see what’s planned for this show.
