I just got home from work and am now cozied up in my recliner with some hot chocolate, prepping, like the rest of the city and Midwestern/Eastern United States, for an incoming Arctic blast that’s going to send temperatures south pretty drastically. We’re expecting it to be about 2 degrees F tomorrow, and that’s not including windchill. Bundle up, friends, if you’re in any affected areas!

Recommendation alert: if you want, what I think is, the best possible cup of hot chocolate, use oat milk. Really, I’m not joking. It makes an amazingly creamy cup that I haven’t experienced with any other milk, dairy or not.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this before, but we’ve got Cruise to the Edge coming up in March, and I’m going. It will be my fourth voyage. I was set to attend the cruise last year, but regrettably had to sit it out due to moving across the country and starting a new job. But I’m back this year, and eager to reconnect with some good friends and see some of my favorite acts, as well as, hopefully, to discover some new acts. My beloved Marillion are headlining, along with Steve Hackett. I bring up the cruise mainly because I learned yesterday, that they’ve made a last minute addition to the lineup. It’s an all-female power group featuring Jane Getter, Durga McBroom, Julie Slick, Ruby Dunphy, and my friend Rachel Flowers. I’m excited to see all of them perform together and am equally excited that Rachel has finally been invited back. She last performed on the cruise in 2019 and was quite a hit, as I recall. I’ve seen all of the other women on past cruises and at individual shows. I know they all have a lot to offer musically, so I’m eager to hear how they incorporate all of their sounds and styles while performing together.
