Somehow it completely slipped my mind in my last post to mention that I’m all set for Claypool Gold in Kansas City. A little out of the way, but not too bad. In the meantime, I decided to take things up a notch with this blog and design a handful of business cards (well, more like “promo” cards, since this blog isn’t really a business) to take with me on Cruise to the Edge, my first time doing such a thing. I’ve only printed 50 of them, but I’m hopeful I can capture the interest of at least a few people while onboard. I picked an eco-friendly card option that’s biodegradable and with rounded edges. I’d post a photo but they haven’t arrived yet. I think some time next week I should be receiving them.
I stopped by the library the other day to rent some movies, along with a few CDs. I rented Antics by Interpol, the original Broadway cast recording of The Phantom of the Opera, and The Tipping Point by Tears For Fears. I gave the last album a listen this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve rented lots of great music selections over the recent months. The library has become a great resource for me in the last few years, and a great way to save money on media. I can always satisfy my desire to “shop” for media by browsing a nice, big library, and walk out with a decent haul of rentals without spending a dime. Financial benefits aside, I’ve also taken advantage of community events offered, like book clubs and writing groups. I haven’t partaken in any library-sourced groups here in Omaha yet, but it’s definitely on my agenda.
