My business cards arrived! I forgot to take a photo of them, but I think they look pretty good. I think 50 is a good start. I’m planning to take them with me on Cruise to the Edge next month (can’t believe it’s almost here!), to hopefully gain some interest. I’m honestly nervous about doing so. I’m normally a very shy and socially anxious person, so approaching people has always been a challenge. I want to get word out about this blog, but I at the same time I don’t want to sound desperate or hungry for attention. There’s probably an art to mastering the whole “elevator pitch,” but I haven’t figured it out yet. That said, on past CTTEs, I have taken a few leaps of faith and approached some people on my own, like Steve Hackett, Adrian Belew, and the members of Marillion. I think what motivates me to take the chance in those situations is the feeling that, if I don’t do it, I’ll regret it. Also, who knows when or if I’ll ever get the chance to talk to them again?
Speaking of CTTE, I got an email today with the complete schedule of performances and special events. I don’t think it’s ever been emailed before, so it’s nice being able to see the tentative schedule well in advance. I know, for sure, I want to go to as many Marillion events as possible. Their Q&A is the first day this time, but their show for red laminates is not until the fourth day. That said, I had success getting into the blue laminate Marillion show on CTTE 2024 by going to a designated area a couple of hours in advance to get one of a limited number of tickets to stand in the back and watch the second show. I plan to do the same on this one. Even if they play the same set, which they likely will, it’s worth it to me. I’m sorry, but I can’t stand the idea of a Marillion show happening right below me and me not being there.
There’s lots of other cool acts I’m interested in checking out, like Stick Men, District 97, Eddie Jobson, Airbag, and, of course, Estronaut. It’s super exciting to watch all of the cruise plans slowly unfold. Before you know it, we’ll be setting sail!
