I read the happy news this morning that Bruce Springsteen is going back on tour. Naturally, I had to take a look at the dates and figure out what day (days?) I’d like to go. In all seriousness, I think just one show is all I’m going to be able to swing this time around. The time I’m taking off for Cruise to the Edge required all of my PTO at work. I’ve got David Byrne and Claypool Gold in Kansas City in May, but that’s a relatively short drive from Omaha. I was bummed to find that so many of these Springsteen tour dates are taking place in the middle of the work week, so I need to be more picky than usual. I’m thinking I’ll try for Austin, since that show falls on a Sunday, a day that works best with my particular schedule.

I went to Homer’s Music the other week for a listening party they were hosting of Mumford & Sons’ new album, Prizefighter. The album was good, but it honestly wasn’t the best environment for a first listen, as the store was busy and, therefore, noisy. I had to retreat to the back of the store near the speakers at times to hear the music better. That said, I did do some shopping while I listened. I finally broke down and bought this Dark Side of the Moon door mat. I was originally going to put it outside my apartment door, but decided to keep it inside as an area to keep shoes, which are strictly forbidden in my place.

I was in a bit of a Floyd mood that day, so I also picked up this The Wall coffee mug. I don’t normally like coffee mugs that are this big (20 oz in this case), but since it represented my favorite record of all time, I made an exception. I forgot to take a photo, but I also ended up buying that 50th anniversary Blu-ray of Wish You Were Here. I’m hoping I can one day get the equipment needed to best experience Blu Ray/5.1 Surround albums.
