WordPress is loading again! I hated not being able to post on my normal day of Tuesday, but oh, well. That’s life, isn’t it? I’m not planning on bringing my laptop with me on Cruise to the Edge, but I do want to document my experiences day by day, so that I don’t have to recap everything when I come home. I’ll probably bring along my AlphaSmart word processor, so that I at least have something to type on and something that can store my progress.
I don’t think I’ve delved much into this topic yet, but little known fact, I’m a foster mom. Not of humans, but rather, of bunnies. We had talked in my family since childhood about possibly getting a rabbit as a pet, but it never happened. I knew that I wanted to have a rabbit when I moved into my apartment, but at the same time, I was reluctant to make the personal and financial commitments since I travel quite a bit. That led me to discovering the Hops&Co. small pet rescue here in Omaha, which offers the opportunity to foster a number of small animals, like rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and yes, bunnies. I thought fostering sounded like a happy medium since I get the experience of having a pet, but just temporarily, either until I can’t care for them, or if they get adopted. I’ve had two so far since October that both moved on to their forever homes and am now on my third one. It’s been a wonderful and rewarding experience helping these animals get out of the shelters for a little while. I try to give them the best life possible by allowing them to free roam in select areas of my apartment and making sure they have good quality toys, hay, and fresh greens. My current one is a little boy named Sonny. He’s about six years old. I’ve arranged for a fellow foster mom to bunny-sit him while I’m away on the cruise. I thought I would share some photos of Sonny hanging out alongside some of my music and prog memorabilia!
